Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

All CMCC members presently offer “Green Label” (IAQ) approved carpet cushion.

What is “Green Label” approval?

The (US) Carpet & Rug Institute has established a program that tests for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in cushion used under carpet. This program helps the carpet manufacturer, the installer and the end user to identify and utilize low-emission carpet cushion.

Cushion products that meet the emissions criteria can display the program’s green label. Products are re-tested regularly for continued compliance. Consumers seeking low-emitting carpet cushion can confidently select those bearing the label.

Carpet cushion in this program is tested for total volatile organic compounds, (VOCs), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), formaldehyde (to show that it is not used in the manufacturing process) and 4-phenycyclohexine (4-PC).
